Mark Lemle Amsterdam is Senior Counsel- Emeritus to Lazarus Karp Ehrlich McCourt, LLP. He was graduated cum laude from Columbia Law School in 1969, and was admitted to the bar of New York State in 1969 and to the Supreme Court of the United States in 1972. For over 55 years, he has practiced criminal and civil litigation in federal and state courts around the United States, He has written law review articles and taught law. His work has been written about in several books and publications. He has been President of his cooperative board and is currently co-chair of the Columbia Law School Annual Fund and a sustaining member of the New York Bar Association. Mark has received the Columbia University Alumni Medal of Excellence. He is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law.
Mark has been intimately involved in New York City real estate since 1938 when Mark’s grandfather started a Real estate management company in Washington Heights. Mark and his family are well aware of the problems facing the real estate industry in New York as they are owners and partners in several residential and commercial properties in New York City.

In 1987 Mark founded a boutique landlord tenant law firm. As of July 1, 2025, that well recognized firm, Amsterdam & Lewinter, LLP, transitioned its practice into Lazarus Karp Ehrlich McCourt, LLP.
Mark has two adult children, Lauren and Matt, and lives in New York City with a home in Kent Connecticut.
