Mr. Karp is a co-founder and the Managing Partner of Lazarus Karp Ehrlich McCourt, LLP, (formerly Lazarus Karp, LLP).   Admitted to the New York Bar in 1995, his experience as a seasoned litigator provides our diverse client base with superior representation and insight in all areas of landlord-tenant practice, commercial and residential leasing, cooperative and condominium matters, rent regulations, administrative law, and general litigation.   He is also authorized and appointed by the Office of Court Administration to serve as Counsel to Receivers and Guardians.  

 

Based upon his knowledge and experience, Mr. Karp has been repeatedly featured on ABC Eyewitness News discussing New York City Housing Court, as well as various landlord-tenant issues and laws.  Additionally, he has been featured on Eyewitness News Special Report: Squatter Standoff, for his expertise regarding the squatter crisis in New York (see links below).  Mr. Karp has further been recognized within the legal community and received a peer review rating in Martindale-Hubbell for his excellence in adhering to professional standards of conduct and ethics as well as for his overall ability and expertise.  Over the years Mr. Karp has served on the Board of Directors for Midway Jewish Center, co-chairing their Project Oversight Committee, as well as being a member of their Legal Committee. 

 

Mr. Karp was admitted to the State and Federal Bars of New Jersey in 1994, and the State of New York Bar in 1995.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School at which he has served as a Mentoring Attorney for their law students.   As an avid scuba diver, Mr. Karp earned his PADI Divemaster license in 2016 which allows him to assist in teaching and introducing new divers to the sport.    He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1991 from the Pennsylvania State University.
